Matrix Construction was formed in 1980 (originally as Matrix and renamed later on as Matrix Construction) under the chairmanship of H.E. Sultan Bin Rashed Al Dhahiri who is a prominent and respected member of the Abu Dhabi business community.
Born in Al Ain in 1932, H.E. Sultan has dedicated his life to doing good deeds and helping those less fortunates. Through his continuous commitment and drive to support youngsters through education, H.E. Sultan believes that his charitable work is an important part of giving back to the country where he was born, raised and educated. H.E. Sultan has devoted his life to giving to, and supporting education in the Emirate and beyond. Many people remain unaware of his various initiatives to support the education of young people. Each year, he provides financial support to numerous students, funding their tuition for school and university.
Amongst his many achievements, including supporting orphans and the construction of Mosques, H.E. Sultan oversaw the establishment of a professorship for Islamic Finance at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. He also donated one million US dollars towards the Young Future Energy Leaders (YFEL) program, which is an outreach program organized by Masdar Institute, to support young leaders to acquire special workplace skills, leadership qualities and professional training.His contribution to supporting education opportunities also extend beyond the UAE. In particular, he has supported the construction of the Azhari Institute in Mokattam and Wadi Natrun in Egypt. Each location has a capacity for up to 1,200 students. H.E. Sultan also provides support for the education of hundreds of students in India, and is involved in education initiatives in Africa, Jordan and Syria.
Matrix Construction was originally formed as the Mechanical and Electrical division of Astraco Construction to compliment their activities in the field of civil engineering construction and to perform the electrical and mechanical works which where an inherent part of their contracts, and encompassed all aspects of the project from design of mechanical, electrical and instrument systems to the procurement of the materials and the installation and commissioning of the systems.
Matrix Construction has gained reputation for expertise, quality and workmanship in the Abu Dhabi oil and gas industry and public sectors within the fields of Mechanical, Piping, Electrical and Instrumentation.
The company offers comprehensive design, engineering, procurement, and construction facilities within the fields of mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation services from their head office in Abu Dhabi using the latest computer systems and software including computer aided drafting (CAD), and in 1991 formalized its quality assurance and control procedures to conform with the internationally recognized standards ISO 9000 and BS 5750. In 2004 Matrix Construction QMS was certified by BVQI to meet ISO 9001. In 2006 Matrix integrated QHSE Management System was certified by BVQI to meet ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 & ISO14001 requirements. In 2020, ISO 45001-2018 -Occupational health and safety management systems were incorporated and certified instead of OHSAS 18001.
Matrix Construction also cooperates with its associated companies Astraco Construction, Matrix Trading, and Matrix Freight Forwarding in providing the best possible service to its clients.
